Friendship with Sea Animals

Colgate has always been my child’s favourite toothpaste and when he came to know about the magical boxes, my child could not control his excitement. Colgate has once again done a remarkable job by coming up with wonderful cover boxes to enhance children’s creativity.
The moment my child received the colgate hamper, he did not wait for a moment and started framing wonderful stories with the characters inside the boxes. Here is one of the stories I am writing which my child has woven with the cute characters of sea magic.
My child has always wanted to look into the underwater life. He was thrilled to see the sea magic and pirate ship characters. So here is the story written by my child:
“Once I went to the beach with family. All of a sudden, I lost my way and I did not find my parents. I was really very worried as I could not see my parents around. I looked here and there but failed to  find my family. Suddenly, I could hear a voice from the sea. I looked into the sea and found a little mermaid calling my name and asking me to come with her. I was surprised to see that cute mermaid as I had never seen a mermaid in life. I went with her to the sea. She asked me,” why are you crying?” I have lost my family, I said to the little mermaid.
“Oh, Do not worry.. You can spend time with us till your parents come and find you.”
I said Thank you to her.
I went the little mermaid. She introduced me to her tiny sea friends. There was a crab, a sea horse, a cute looking fish and some other sea animals. They gave me food to eat. They were all happy to see me. We all danced and partied all night. We even played lot of games.
They told me something to which I was shocked. They were happily living in their world but all of a sudden, their home is getting dirty and their friends are falling sick because of the waste material thrown to the sea by humans.
I felt bad for those tiny creatures. I promised them that I would tell other humans to not to throw waste into the sea.
Next day, my parents found me. I was happy to found my parents back. I narrated everything to my parents. When I went to my school, I told my friends not to pollute the sea as animals who live in sea are our friends. We should not destroy our homes.”

My Review
The moment I saw the title of the book, I was immediately curious to know what the book is all about. Thanks to Blogadda for sending the book. We come across many books on meditation but the title Open Eyed Meditations makes the reader inquisitive as how one can meditate with open eyes.  So far what we are familiar with is that meditation and praying requires concentration which can best be achieved with eyes closed. The basic objective of meditation as mentioned by the author is to increasing one’s awareness for perceiving deeper truths from within.  Open eyed meditation is all about leading a stress free life and how to remain content. The book tells us how to keep away anxiety to enable us to be happy with our present situation.
The Book contains several tips and eye openers for enhancing one’s personality and for attaining a level of peace and tranquillity from within.
In today’s fast paced life, many of us are in constant stress. Everyone wants to excel. There is a constant apprehension at the back of the mind that one should not get left behind in this rat race. Our this attitude
towards life generates stress and anxiety and  many a times leads to physical and mental breakdown. The author has closely observed human behaviour and has derived inspiration from the mythological epics of Mahabrata and Ramayana. Most of us have grown up hearing stories from the Mahabharata and Ramayana from our childhood. Thus linking the ideas enumerated by the author with the anecdotes from the mythological epics not only makes them plausible but also   consolidates the suggestions given as they have been applied practically by the Gods and Goddesses for leading a life of equanimity and happiness.
Writing Style
The narration style is very lucid and comprehensible. The chapters are not very long. The ideas and suggestions given by the author about the lessons of life are written in a very rational way which can be tried by every individual. The book will definitely keep   you engrossed. One will not lose patience while reading it.  The moment I started reading the book, I was totally intrigued and finished the book in one go. Reading the book generates the feeling of exhilaration and good will.  While we do not have any control over the events happening around us in our everyday life, we can definitely control our response to such events thereby maintaining our balance in life. The book is a must read for all age groups to cope   with ups and downs of life they encounter.
My rating for the book 4.5/5

My Childhood Friend

Friendship is truly an amazing bond. A life without friend is same as a fruit without sweetness. Friendship is very important for me. Being the only child, my friends are my lifeline. Out of many friends, there is one special friend who we really rely on. That friend becomes our jug, that friend who truly holds a special place in our hearts.
I t feels so great to have that special person in my life. I am going to tell you about my special friend who is more than a friend to me. We are childhood friends. I remember when we were in Nursery. We could hardly speak but we felt connected when we first met. He was in my class and we would sit next to each other and share out lunch.
We grew up together in the same school. As the years passed, we got to know each other better. Sometimes he would make fun of me, sometimes he would tease me but whenever I needed my friend, he would always there for me. I was weak at Maths and he was a bright student and scored good at Maths. The most amazing thing was whenever I needed any help, he never said no to me.
As we grew up, he went abroad for higher studies and I continued my studies here. He got so busy in her studies that we hardly talked. The emails and messages by him started fading away. I used to miss him a lot. He was my best friend. Nobody could understand me better than him.
After two years, I got a call from him. I was so excited to talk to my jug, my best friend. He gave me a huge surprise that he has returned to India and going to meet me next day. It was a wonderful news for me. I had started planning to meet my best friend after a long time.
Finally the day came, we both met after two years. It was the happiest moment to meet my childhood friend after such a long gap. We had decided to relive our childhood. We went to the same school. There we met our school teachers. We shared ice cream and made fun of each other.

I felt complete with him. Now we are married to each other. It is an amazing feeling to marry your best friend. We realized that we  both love each other when our parents started looking for alliance. I am blessed to have a fantastic friend as my husband. But more than that, he will always remain my jug!
am writing about Jug in my life for the #DearZindagi activity at BlogAdda“.
